Discovered through social
The winemaker has known Safe vineyard thanks to an ad on Facebook and then filled out the form to request information. The initial curiosity turned into a concrete use of the instrument.
The problem: water bombs and downy mildew
In the last 7–8 years, the area has seen the return of extreme events (water bombs), which have favoured the development of the peronospora. In this context, tools are needed to help understand when risks increase.
Technological support as “additional equipment”
The app provides technical guidance on conditions conducive to the development of diseases, providing additional operational support to make field decisions. The user interprets it as additional “equipment” to address problems.
Practical use and role of experience
He followed the directions of the app to a certain extent: by the end of July, most of the seasonal interventions are already completed. The app helps to assess the risk, but the judgement of those on the ground remains crucial to interpret the conditions and decide whether to intervene.
Recommendation
Its conclusion is clear: would recommend Vigneto Sicuro to all fellow winemakers.
Full Testimony
It happened once to see something on Facebook and I sent you the information request form. We are in Piedmont; over the last 7–8 years the main problem has been the return of water bombs and we have had big problems with downy mildew.
I was intrigued to have a more technological view of the issues, because there is extra support that technically knows when there might be certain problems and allows me to have extra equipment to deal with them.
I followed the instructions given by the app to a certain extent, because then at the end of July for me everything there was to do in the vineyard is done. The app gives guidance on the conditions and how, under those conditions, the disease might or might not develop: Then it's up to you to assess the situation. I would definitely recommend it to all colleagues who do this job.
