The origin of Vigneto Sicuro
Safe vineyard was created to respond to a concrete problem: the fight against peronospora, developed in collaboration with the startup Trace Technologies, the app sends alerts to producers to guide phytosanitary treatments.
How it works
Vigneto Sicuro produces targeted alerts that signal the favorable conditions for the development of the fungus. The manufacturer, adhering to these warnings, applies the products at useful times to hit and inhibit the disease, avoiding unnecessary interventions.
Economic and environmental benefits
The main advantages reported are:
- reduction in the number of treatments, resulting in less use of chemicals or copper (in organic);
- reduction of production costs through more targeted interventions;
- less use of means and therefore a reduction in CO2 emissions;
- Biodiversity and environmental benefits through more sustainable management.
Why is it important
The transition from scheduled interventions to interventions guided by alerts makes it possible to protect the production and quality of the raw material, while reducing the environmental impact of agricultural activity. According to the witness, Vigneto Sicuro represents a practical and sustainable solution to address one of the main problems of viticulture.
Full Testimony
The project stems from a business need: Fight against downy mildew. We developed the project with the startup Trace Tech, creating Vigneto Sicuro, an app designed to counteract downy mildew.
The system works via alert: the app sends signals to the manufacturer and these alerts must be followed to apply the products that affect and inhibit the fungus.
The benefits and advantages of the project are innumerable and important for the environment. First of all, we reduce the percentage of treatments and therefore the emissions of chemicals – or, in my case, of the copper used in organic production – into the atmosphere. We also lower production costs and intervene less with means in the field, reducing CO2 emissions. In short, there are economic benefits and concrete respect for the environment, biodiversity and nature.
