The eggs hatch in nymphs that are very similar to the adult and continue to feed on the plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Usually this insect is located on the lower side of the leaves and near the stem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"come-individuarla\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to identify it<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a specific symptomatology of its presence we can find&nbsp;<strong>brownish spots<\/strong>&nbsp;on the leaves (these are left by the insect while feeding)&nbsp;<strong>drying<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>yellowing<\/strong>&nbsp;O&nbsp;<strong>curling<\/strong>&nbsp;of the same at the edges, or streaks along the veins; we can also find&nbsp;<strong>gum stains<\/strong>&nbsp;near the tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"conseguenze\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Consequences<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we said above, one of the most common ways in which this insect&nbsp;<strong>damages<\/strong>&nbsp;the vines are inserting its mouth apparatus into the plant and sucking the sap of the same and this leads to a reduction of the&nbsp;<strong>photosynthesis<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>production<\/strong>&nbsp;fruity, but it\u2019s not over here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cicaline can also<strong>&nbsp;damaging<\/strong>&nbsp;plants by inserting its eggs into the vegetable tissue,&nbsp;<strong>infecting them<\/strong>&nbsp;and taking them to the&nbsp;<strong>death<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"trattamenti\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Treatments<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To date, several treatments for this parasite are available, such as insecticides, horticulture oils and UV radiation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"prevenzione\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prevention<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for prevention, it is possible by planting resistant varieties or using so-called row covers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"titolo2\"><strong>Moth of the vine<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" the vine<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most common pests that infest the vines is the&nbsp;<strong>moth of the vine<\/strong>, which is sometimes also called the grape leaf roller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This moth lays eggs on the lower side of the leaves or on bunches and stems of fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The larvae hatch from the eggs and begin to feed on leaves, bunches of fruit or stems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"diffusione\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Diffusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This insect is common throughout the United States, especially in the northeast, mates in spring, is most active from&nbsp;<strong>April<\/strong>&nbsp;a&nbsp;<strong>July.<\/strong>&nbsp;In general, when laying eggs it does not only on the leaves of grapes but also on other plants near the vine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking of the symptoms, the most commonly encountered when this insect attacks the screws is the&nbsp;<strong>weaving&nbsp;<\/strong>covering the leaves and clusters caused by&nbsp;<strong>larvae<\/strong>; in addition to the presence of caterpillars or larvae that feed on leaves or<strong>&nbsp;bunches<\/strong>&nbsp;of fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"conseguenze-2\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Consequences<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moving on to the&nbsp;<strong>damage<\/strong>, mainly among those caused by<strong>&nbsp;moth of the vine<\/strong>&nbsp;we find the&nbsp;<strong>decreased<\/strong>&nbsp;the production of grapes and the<strong>&nbsp;death<\/strong>&nbsp;of the plant, depending on how many larvae there are and the severity of the infestation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"prevenzione-e-rimedi\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prevention and Remedies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, as regards prevention and remedies: the former include spraying of insecticides during periods when moths are most active.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latter instead include removing infested plants, pruning the vines so that they do not touch each other, and the burning of infested plants or their remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"section\" vine<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>Popillia,<\/strong>&nbsp;first identified as an important parasite in 1869, it is a very common vine parasite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"il-ciclo-vitale-della-popilia\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Life Cycle of Popilia<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its life cycle can be divided into four phases: egg, larva, pupa and adult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specifically, the female lays eggs on the lower side of the leaves, which hatch in about a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The eggs then hatch in larvae, which feed on the plant for up to two weeks before becoming adult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These adults then lay more eggs on new leaves, starting the cycle over again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"come-individuarla-2\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to identify it<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first signs of popillia infestation are usually found on the lower side of the leaves where brown or black stains are present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other symptoms may be: small yellowish-white spots on leaves and shoots (similar to aphids), irregular spots of dried leaves, sprouts browned by the feeding of larvae and brown spots on the shoots themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"conseguenze-3\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Consequences<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the damage in addition to damaging the vines, these insects can also spread diseases between nearby plants and trees as they move from one leaf to another in search of nourishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other damages that can be found are:&nbsp;<strong>withering&nbsp;<\/strong>e&nbsp;<strong>stunted growth<\/strong>&nbsp;this can lead to an increase in&nbsp;<strong>production costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"prevenzione-e-rimedi-2\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prevention and Remedies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To stem this problem and fight this insect in the best way it is important to take preventive measures, as well as to use treatments and remedies when a real infestation occurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first step to<strong>&nbsp;preventing<\/strong>&nbsp;the advent of this insect is keeping the area around your screws free of any organic material that could attract this insect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here we refer to weeds, leaves and other vegetable debris. It should also be ensured that there are no spaces between the vines where parasites can enter coming from another plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you notice clear signs of infestation, such as withered or yellowed leaves, it is advisable to use a plant protection product, such as an insecticide or herbicide to combat it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, in recent years, there has been a greater focus on developing more methods.<strong>&nbsp;sustainable<\/strong>&nbsp;and less harmful to prevent these parasites from damaging the vines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most promising new methods is the use of&nbsp;<strong>technology<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>forecast templates&nbsp;<\/strong>for&nbsp;<strong>predict<\/strong>&nbsp;when these pests appear in the vineyards, they can be killed before they do damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"titolo4\"><strong>Scarab of the vine<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tracetech.it\/upload\/img\/Scarabeo-della-vite.png\" alt=\"Scarab of the vine\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Specimen of Scrabble of the vine<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vine beetle (Pelidnota punctata) is an orange beetle widespread mainly in North America.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"il-ciclo-vitale\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The life cycle<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The life cycle of this insect begins with eggs laid by beetle females in the spring. These eggs hatch in about three days and produce small white larvae that feed on plant roots and other organic matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once they reach maturity, these larvae are impupated for about five days before emerging as an adult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At that point the adults lay more eggs to start the cycle again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"come-individuarlo\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to identify it<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Symptoms of a vine beetle infestation are mainly&nbsp;<strong>withered leaves<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>yellowed leaves<\/strong>&nbsp;e&nbsp;<strong>brown screws<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"conseguenze-4\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Consequences<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This<strong>&nbsp;insect<\/strong>&nbsp;can cause damage to screws by eating&nbsp;<strong>leaves<\/strong>&nbsp;e&nbsp;<strong>fruits<\/strong>&nbsp;weakening them and bringing them to death. It also has the annoying habit of entering the homes of winegrowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"prevenzione-e-rimedi-3\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prevention and Remedies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most effective way to manage the&nbsp;<strong>diffusion<\/strong>&nbsp;of this invasive parasite is the use of insecticides or pesticides, but they are not always effective against an insect as small as the scarab of the vine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are also many treatments that can be used for&nbsp;<strong>fight<\/strong>&nbsp;this&nbsp;<strong>parasite<\/strong>, one of them is the&nbsp;<strong>fumigation<\/strong>&nbsp;of the soil (by injection of the soil or soaking of the soil) and the&nbsp;<strong>removal<\/strong>&nbsp;vines from areas&nbsp;<strong>haunted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are several ways to<strong>&nbsp;preventing<\/strong>&nbsp;e&nbsp;<strong>treat<\/strong>&nbsp;this insect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>use&nbsp;<strong>protective nets<\/strong>&nbsp;O&nbsp;<strong>screens<\/strong>&nbsp;on plants;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>remove weeds from the vineyard;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the use of insecticides;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>manual removal (if not too many);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the suction of the same from under the screws with a vacuum cleaner;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the methods mentioned above, however, there are also more natural and sustainable remedies or preventive measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among these we find:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>planting grape varieties&nbsp;<strong>resistant<\/strong>&nbsp;diseases;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use&nbsp;<strong>natural predators&nbsp;<\/strong>as ladybugs or lace for insect
